Aisha Maisarah Lim : Radiant and Happy

AFTER forty-two years of waiting, Lim Bee Ping finally made the jump from being faithless to being a Muslim when she converted to Islam yesterday at the Multipurpose Hall of the Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajah Maryam.

The 42-year old manager said that she felt it was time that she needed a belief and saw Islam as fitting. As a Muslim, she took the name Aisha Maisarah Lim

Having an older sister who also converted to Islam 20 years ago, she took six months to really think about it. She said that she studied people as they went along their lives, how they dressed and how they talked, and especially when they discussed matters pertaining to Islam.

Radiant and bursting with energy, Aisha was clearly happy and she told The Brunei Times that she was certain that she did not make a wrong decision as even her family readily accepted her choice.

Aisha's sister-in-law is a member of "Friends of Pusat Ehsan", a group that helps the centre to collect funds, and relayed her desire to embrace Islam to the centre's management.

They then happily obliged to helping by making the appropriate arrangements.

As a welfare centre that organises educational programmes, training and care for special individuals, it also involves in activities that benefit development of the nation and Islam.

Aisha's conversion ceremony was made extra special by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Acting Chairperson of Pusat Ehsan's Board of Trustees, Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Alimin Haji Abd Wahab and members of the board. Also present were staff of Pusat Ehsan along with her close friends and family.

Performing the ceremony were officials from the Islamic Da'wah Centre while another two volunteers from those attending served as official witnesses to the conversion.
